Any visible tilt away from the slope, or a belly in the middle of the run, means the wall is losing the argument with the soil behind it. This is movement in progress, not a finished condition.
Vertical hairlines are often shrinkage. Horizontal cracks — especially near the base — indicate bending failure under load and are the most serious crack pattern on a wall.
A gap opening between the wall and the ground behind it, or a patio settling near the top, means backfill is migrating. Something is moving where you can't see it.
